Catalyst was formed in March 2008 to utilise the varying skill-sets and extensive knowledge of its management, a team with over 104 years collective industry experience.
IVAN DAVIES, Production & Development Director
Ivan is a veteran of the games industry with 22 years experience and 74 games produced and developed to date. Ivan started work at Special FX as an 8-bit artist and then moved on to working as a Producer at Ocean Software in Manchester in March 1992. In October 2001, he became the Head of Production for Infogrames and in February 2003 became Studio Head for Warthog.
In November 2004, Ivan returned to working in his home town of Liverpool, becoming a Senior Producer in Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s External Development Department. It was whilst at Sony in 2007 that Ivan won a BAFTA for the ‘Best Children’s Video Game’.
Ivan has an MA in Digital Games and his primary role at Catalyst is business development and to oversee the management of all production and development requirements of Catalyst’s clients and development partners.

TONY BUCKLEY, Senior Producer
Tony has worked in the games industry for over 15 years and has accrued a wealth of experience working on a wide range of commercially and critically acclaimed titles. Tony began his industry career in 1995 when he joined Digital Image Design as QA and Technical Support manager, before moving into a production role with the same company in 1997. In 1999 he joined Infogrames as an Executive Producer where he worked with a number of development studios on a variety of titles.
In December 2002, Tony joined Sony Computer Entertainment Europe as a Game Director, where he managed the hugely successful WipEout Franchise, it was while managing the Wipeout franchise that Tony was included in Edge magazines Hot 100 games developers of 2008.
In April 2010, Tony joined Catalyst as a Senior Producer where he is responsible for handling the day to day requirements of Catalyst’s clients and development partners.

GARETH BETTS, Senior Producer
Gareth has been working in the video game industry for over 21 years and has over 150 titles to his name. Gareth started his career in 1990 at Ocean Software, working in the QA department and then in 1992 joining the external production team where he worked on a wide range of titles.
In 1996 Gareth was given the responsibility of managing the motor racing franchises, where he worked on Total Driving, Le Mans 24 Heures, Max Power Racing before producing Driver 2, Driver 3 and Stuntman with Reflections Interactive.
In 2005 he joined Sony Computer Entertainment as a Senior Producer where his first role was to produce Formula One Championship Edition, a launch title for the PS3. He then worked alongside Tony Buckley on WipEout HD and WipEout Fury.
In March 2010 Gareth joined Catalyst Outsourcing as a Senior Producer where he works closely with developers and outsource partners to deliver quality managed assets for a range of projects spanning a range of platforms and budgets.

TIM PEEL, Legal & Business Affairs Director
Tim is a qualified solicitor having trained at Liverpool-based Brabners Chaffe Street Solicitors after studying law at the University of Liverpool and Chester College of Law. Tim made the move from private practice into industry in 1998 when he joined Infogrames United Kingdom Limited (now Atari UK) as Company Solicitor. He was headhunted in 2000 and joined PC OEM bundling company, Vector OEM Content Limited, as Company Solicitor.
Tim moved into the mobile games industry in 2002 when he became Head of Legal at iFone Limited, a mobile games developer and publisher. He remained there for four years when iFone was acquired by US mobile games publisher Glu Mobile Inc. Prior to working at Catalyst, Tim was Head of Legal at Telcogames Limited.

PETER SULLIVAN, Financial & Commercial Affairs Director
Peter is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant with extensive knowledge of the mobile and video games industries. He spent his early career in traditional industries working for Tetley’s and Lever Brothers. In 1994 he made his first move into video games and spent more than six years at Liverpool based video games developer and publisher Psygnosis – a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe – working as Publishing Accountant and subsequently as Group Business Analyst.
He was instrumental in the set-up, design and implementation of the forecasting model and territory management reporting system for Psygnosis’ European and US operations and was heavily involved in pricing and commercial evaluation of new projects.
Peter then moved to London to take up the role of European Financial Planning Manager at First Telecom plc before being appointed as Finance Director at iFone in Manchester, which was subsequently acquired by Glu.
He moved back to Liverpool as Director of Business and Commercial Services at FWL Technologies, a company engaged in the development and implementation of bespoke software systems for the logistics industry. FWL Technologies was acquired in early 2007 and Peter returned to the mobile games industry as Commercial Director of Telcogames.
